As you mixed up your ‘b’s and ‘d’s
Not so long ago
I saw you wistfully look at me
Hoping I would know

Hoping I would hold you hand
Help you find your way
Around that imminent reprimand
Into a happier day

And as we tore through life
With each passing  year
Skipping over the strife
Tearing though our fear

I know I let you go
And I hope not too soon
So you may run the last mile
And leap over the moon
